“And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.”

Judges 4:9

We should remember as believers that God’s ways and thoughts are not the same as ours. The verse of today shows the supremacy of God who chooses availability over ability.

Humans can make choices based on outward appearances, but God doesn’t work that way; He looks at the heart. When we choose to walk with the Lord, in the light of His word, He sheds His glory on our way, and we experience victories beyond human imagination. We need to recognise the strengths of those around us, accept roles where we are best suited, and work together towards common goals.

Believers are encouraged to explore the strength found in collaboration, the transformative nature of faith, and to understand that God’s plans are often beyond our perception. The journey of Barak and Deborah is a powerful illustration that reminds us of leadership paths, the significance of trusting God, and how remarkable victories can arise from surprising sources.

Charge: There is beauty in shared endeavours, and it is often through the success of others that we find our own.
