“I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.”
Micah 7:9
The joy we feel as children when we end up getting rescued by an advocate after committing a punishable offence is always indescribable. Imagine either of your parents having their hands already lifted to smite you. Just then, someone highly respected walks in to plead for you, saying, “Please, Ma’am/Sir, pardon him for my sake.” That’d be an outright escape for someone who dreads getting beaten, and perhaps was already shivering while soaked in tears.
More than this is what our Lord Jesus Christ did on behalf of every man. With so great compassion kindled in His heart, He bore upon His shoulders the sins of everyone. The guiltless one without sin pleaded guilty before all, and the vilest offender was purchased in exchange with his precious blood.
Jesus Christ took the place of the offender—the detested and forsaken—just to make man whole, and He did it all for free. He also ascended unto God the Father, to become an advocate daily for everyone who calls on Him. Hence, no man needs to live in condemnation anymore, but in the salvation offered freely at all times.
Charge: Behold the finished work of Christ. He took our place and set us free.
