BLESSING OR CURSING: CHOOSE YOUR WORDS WISELY

“Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.”

James 3:10

How strange do we find excreting from the same mouth we take in food? Factually, bats are birds that have no other place except their mouth for eating and passing out waste. Also, a tourist centre in Nigeria is believed to have two streams of water running on parallel sides—both cold and warm water. These are things created by God to be so, and they cannot be questioned.

Howbeit, when it comes to humans, certain attributes and characters become questionable when exhibited because there’s a manner by which we ought to live. Likewise, believers living contrary to what they believe is hypocrisy, one of which includes claiming salvation but living with our words uncontrolled. You’re not permitted to live anymore like everyone else the moment the confession of faith is taken before God.

It has become forbidden for anything that doesn’t glorify God to be heard from the mouth of a believer. Insultive words, ungodly conversation, impure speech, hateful dialogue, and prideful communication must be done without; else, we’d become questionable about the faith we’ve received.

Charge: Edifying words like “God bless you”, “I am shielded by the blood,” etc, should become our mantra even in the face of hardship.
