“If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.”
1 Peter 4:14
As followers of Christ, we may face ridicule, mockery, or even persecution for our faith. But 1 Peter 4:14 reminds us that being reproached for Christ’s sake is actually a blessing.
In a world that often rejects the values and principles of Christianity, standing up for our faith can be challenging. We may encounter people who mock our beliefs, question our intelligence, or even ostracise us. But Peter tells us that in these moments, the Spirit of glory and of God rests on us.
Being reproached for Christ’s sake doesn’t mean we’ve done anything wrong; rather, it’s a sign that we’re identifying with Him and living out our faith boldly. It’s a privilege to suffer for Christ’s name, just as He suffered for us. Let us remember that we’re not alone. Christ suffered the same, and He’s with us in the midst of it.
Charge: Stand firm in your faith, knowing that God is glorified in your endurance.
