“Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.”

Proverbs 2:3-5

Wisdom is not something we stumble upon by chance; it is a treasure that must be sought after diligently. God’s Word compares it to silver and hidden treasures, emphasizing the level of commitment required to obtain it. Just as miners dig deep into the earth, sacrificing time and energy to uncover precious metals, so must we pursue divine wisdom with passion and persistence.

Seeking wisdom begins with a hunger for knowledge and a sincere cry to God for understanding. It requires humility to acknowledge that, on our own, we lack the insight needed to navigate life’s complexities. James 1:5 assures us that if we ask for wisdom, God will give it generously. However, we must actively search for it through prayer, meditation on the Scriptures, and godly counsel.

The reward for seeking wisdom is profound: we come to understand the fear of the Lord, which is the foundation of true knowledge (Proverbs 9:10). A life guided by divine wisdom is one marked by discernment, righteousness, and peace.

Charge: Are you seeking wisdom with the same intensity as a treasure hunter? Do not be passive in your pursuit of understanding. Cry out to God, dig into His Word, and apply what you learn.
