“Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.”
Proverbs 17:28
It is not a new thing to know that there is pressure everywhere to want to be heard. We always have one or two things to say about every matter, but we must always remember that sometimes, the wisest thing to do is to say nothing at all. Silence can be a tool of wisdom in our journey today.
Sometimes, taking a pause and not speaking at all can help us avoid acting impulsively or out of emotion which we may come to regret later. When we hold our peace in critical moments, we allow the Holy Spirit to respond through us.
Everyone wants to be bold and confident, but in certain things, it is our courage to remain silent that is required more. When we do this, we will be esteemed as wise and understanding. Let’s practice the discipline of silence today. Let’s hold our peace and trust that God will give us the words to speak when the time is right.
Charge: Allow the Holy Spirit to help you guard your words and use silence wisely.
