“Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.”
Colossians 4:6
There is immense power in spoken words, especially for us as joint heirs with Christ. Our words carry authority and impact, which is why we cannot afford to speak carelessly. Words can uplift or destroy, build or tear down; thus, the Bible instructs us to speak with grace.
When our words are seasoned with salt, we extend to others the same love, kindness, and patience that God shows us daily. Although it is not uncommon to face frustration or provocation, as children of God, our response must reflect love and wisdom.
Speaking graciously also allows the wisdom of God to flow through us, making our conversations a channel for sharing the Word of Life. When we speak in this manner, our words become a testimony and an invitation to experience the goodness of God.
Charge: Ask God to help you speak in a way that honors Him and shines His light to the world around you.
