“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
John 15:7.
To abide in Christ means to remain steadfast within the confines of faith—not out of obligation, but because of the love that compels us to stay and not stray. Anyone who abides in Christ dwells in a place of refuge. God becomes their protector and builds an edge around them as seen with Daniel (Daniel 6:22), gives them peace with their enemies as He did for David (2 Samuel 7:1), and prospers them even in the time of famine as He did for Isaac.
(Gen 26:12).
It is within the courts of Christ that we find true joy and safety. No wonder the Psalmist declared, ““Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere (Psalm 84:10.” When God calls us to Himself, He no longer treats us as strangers. Instead, He provides a dwelling place where sin, sorrow, death, or affliction cannot invade—a sanctuary of complete security for those who remain.
It is dangerous to constantly play the “lost one” who wanders away from the 99 others who are called. The full reward is reserved for those who stay. By abiding, we behold Christ and are transformed into His likeness. Our reliance on self diminishes, and our desires are replaced by His. Abiding in Him aligns our will with His, making our lives a reflection of His purpose.
Confession: I receive the grace to abide in Christ, regardless of the challenges may face.
