“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
John 14:2
Life is a journey leading to an eternal home. Have you ever noticed how children rejoice after school? They eagerly anticipate the comfort of home, the warmth of their parents, and a meal lovingly prepared. Now imagine a child with nowhere to go, or a woman who has laboured all day but has no home to rest. What a heartbreaking and purposeless life that would be.
As Christians, we have the assurance of a glorious home in heaven. Jesus promised to prepare a place for us, but this promise requires daily preparation on our part so that we do not miss it. It would be a grave error to labour here on earth and miss our eternal Home.
We must always remember: this world is not our home. We are only passing through. Though we live in the world, we are not of it. We must guard our hearts and live with eternity in view. As Romans 12:2 reminds us: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Charge: Seek God daily, serve Him faithfully, and live to please Him. Heaven is real, and Jesus has prepared a place for us. Don’t allow the birth of Jesus Christ be in vain.
