“When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”
1 Corinthians 13:11
When a child is born, he needs milk to grow. But when starts growing, he needs solid food for more nutrients and sustainability. Similarly, as Christians, we cannot remain spiritual infants. We must grow and mature in our faith and relationship with God. As we grow, we mustn’t stay in the infant stages of faith but strive for continuous growth.
Remaining a child spiritually means being easily overwhelmed by circumstances, lacking discernment, and not fully grasping the truth of God’s Word. The Bible calls us to grow in maturity by speaking the truth in love and becoming like Christ.
However, before we can grow, we need to take certain steps—consistently feeding on the Word of God and praying. As Christians, we must move beyond basic teachings to deeper understanding of God’s truth. This equips us to discern between good and evil—helping us to become better and align our lives more closely with God’s Word.
Charge: Do not remain a child; embrace spiritual growth and maturity in Christ.
