“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2
When was the last time you felt another person’s pain like it was your own? Or the last time you stood in the gap for another? When was the last time you reached out to share the little you have?
There is something bigger than us that Christ calls us to, and that is having all things in common.
In Acts 2:44, we can see that the early church had all things in common. What that meant is that they lived as one. They lived as though the joy of a brother was theirs, and another’s trouble was theirs.
It is very possible to get overwhelmed by your troubles and responsibilities in life, but even in the midst of them, we must ask the Lord for the grace to extend love, concern, material things, and intercession to our brethren. We all need each other, and God has made it so we do not have to carry the burdens alone.
Charge: Let us be our brother’s keeper, and where necessary, his burden-bearer.
