Many times, we think that the things God wants from us are a catalogue of rituals or vague demands that cannot be fulfilled. Amazingly, the things God wants from His children majorly amongst other things are holiness, mercy, truth, and judgement. Scripture teaches us that our God is holy and righteous, and His eyes cannot tolerate sin.
He calls us to be holy as He is, to engage in good works that reflect His glory.Today’s passage makes a bold and essential demand on us as believers: how can we embody mercy, truth, and justice if we remain unclean and engage in evil? Our Heavenly Father requires us to take responsibility for our actions, to turn away from wrongdoing, and approach Him to obtain the grace necessary to fulfill His works.
As believers, we are the light of the world, sent to express God’s love and the principles of His Kingdom to every person, territory, and system. We are called to do good, seek justice for the oppressed, and show mercy to the helpless. We must remember Jesus’ words: in serving others, especially His brethren, we serve Him.
Confession: I receive grace to do good, live without sin, and spread the love of God.
