“But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.”
Jonah 2:9
We often overlook the necessity of gratitude and thanksgiving for an overflowing life. However, thanksgiving is not only about saying the right words. The voice of true thanksgiving is one that captures the heart and opens the eyes to see the goodness and blessings they are privileged to have.
Thanksgiving is a posture that is not determined by the things that are happening, but where your eyes are focused on. When your eyes are on God, you are able to see via His light. When His light shines, you’re able to see things that your natural eyes cannot see and also sing and dance for joy because of that which is coming from the Throne of Grace.
We must also recognize that thanksgiving is a sacrifice. It is like a sweet incense that rises to the Lord for His pleasure when it is done in the right way, and that which is able to heal our own hearts. In everything give thanks. Our God is sovereign; and though sometimes things do not play out as we wish, but we must pray that the Holy Spirit helps our hearts to always see God’s goodness and be thankful for it at all times.
Charge: Be thankful; God does everything for your good.
