“Sing unto God, ye kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the Lord; Selah:”

Psalm 68:32

Praise is the act of expressing approval, admiration, or appreciation for someone’s achievements, efforts, or qualities. It involves recognizing and acknowledging someone’s strengths, accomplishments, or positive behavior, and communicating that recognition in a sincere and specific manner.

The question is, “When we praise, to whom are we directing our praise?” As Christians, we should recognize God, our Creator and Lord, and direct our praise to Him. He is the One who is deserving of our praise.

We should praise God for His unending mercy, His many spiritual blessings, and His kindness to us, because He is good and His mercy is everlasting. However, our daily struggles or constant life demands can often crowd out our praise to God.

Why We Should Praise:

• Praise shifts our focus from ourselves to God.

• It reminds us of His greatness and our dependence on Him.

• Praise brings us to a place of humility.

• Recognizing His power and sovereignty helps us see our rightful place.

• Praise causes the enemy to flee. It confuses the enemy and halts his plans against us.

• Praise leaves no room for complaining and negativity.

• It fills our hearts and minds with gratitude and joy.

• Praise opens the way for God’s blessings over our lives.

• It creates an atmosphere where God’s presence and favor can dwell.

Charge: Every chance you get, praise the Lord.
