“When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.”
John 11:6
Why did Jesus not move immediately as seen in the above Bible text? Have you thought about it carefully? If you were told to hurriedly come because your loved one is very sick, I am sure you wouldn’t delay for another minute. Yet, this was Jesus delaying even for two days.
The answer is simple: He had said earlier, “This sickness is not unto death…” Remember, God is not a man that He should lie; therefore, Jesus wasn’t the under pressure of “what if something goes wrong” like you and I would have thought.
Sometimes, we make the mistake of wanting God to act quickly according to our timing because we think He is taking too much time and it might be too late. We often rush Him to work within our schedule. However, even though God has so much in store for us, He is never in haste to manifest Himself.
We need to learn from this scripture, and the ensuing verses, that it is never too late for God. Everything arrives the moment Jesus is there; therefore, even though a man is dead, life and resurrection come to him when Jesus shows up. It doesn’t matter how long it seems in our eyes; when Jesus shows up, that is the time.
