“My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; Neither be weary of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.”

Proverbs 3:11-12

Correction
is inevitable. At various points in our lives, we have erred, this might be due to ignorance or disobedience. Our parents, teachers, and elders sometimes correct us with words, and sometimes with whips.

Scolding a child isn’t always pleasant at the initial stage, we feel threatened, unloved and sometimes angry. But this doesn’t despite the fact that our parents love us. They are only watching out for us.

This also applies to us believers. God loves us and that’s why He sometimes chastise us through His word. This may come from the sermon at church, during your personal Bible study or through the Holy Spirit.

We should learn to receive corrections with joy. This way we can learn and move closer to God. Correcting you doesn’t mean He hates you. Do not run away from Him when He chastises you.

Confession: God loves me.
