“Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.”

We’ve heard it often said that the God-way is a narrow one. However, it is until life tests our dedication to that narrow way that we understand what narrow truly means.
The way is narrow because not many can walk in it. It is narrow because it is completely contrary and opposite to the way that makes sense to the human mind. It is narrow because there must be a death in you before you can tread its path.
In the normal calculation of man, there is usually a demand to render evil for evil. If someone does evil to you, it seems only right to render that evil back to them, because the human minds believes that that’s what they deserve.
However, the narrow way demands the opposite. Please note that it doesn’t ask you to remain neutral – that is, by not doing evil to the person – it asks that you do the opposite. That is, if you get a chance to be kind to them, happily do so; loving them as Christ loves you.
It asks you to leave all your hurt at the feet of Jesus, and take His heart for them instead. As impossible as this sounds in the natural, it is possible through Christ.
