“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”
2 Timothy 2:20-21
Today’s message helps us to understand the importance of being a vessel unto honour. When you visit a great house, you will see the type of vessels they have there: gold, wood, silver etc. The manner of usage of each vessel depends on its material and importance.
As a believer too, you can be a vessel unto honour or dishonour. Our scripture encourages us to be a vessel unto honour. A vessel unto honour is one with a high quality. There are some equipments in our various houses kept with utmost care because of their value.
The way you handle your plastic cup will be different from the way you will do your glass cup. What’s the difference between these two, after all, they are all containers. The difference is the quantity? This applies to us as believers also. As believers, our quality can only be defined by how well we are purged. Our scriptural text says “…if a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” 2 Tim 2:21.
These things mentioned in the bible passage refers to the fruits of the flesh as stated in Gal 5:19-21. Therefore, if you want to be a vessel unto honour, you must flee from iniquities and embrace righteousness.
