“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”
2 Timothy 2: 20 – 21
The scripture for today serves as a reminder that believers are not all the same and that each person has the responsibility to pursue holiness. These verses gives us hope that we can be a vessel for honourable use if we cleanse ourselves from what is dishonorable.
To cleanse ourselves means to turn away from sin and pursue righteousness. It requires a daily commitment to walk in the footsteps of Christ and reject the things of the world. We can do this through prayer, reading the Bible, and being accountable to other believers.
Being useful to the Master of the house means being ready to do whatever God asks of us. We must be willing to serve Him in humility and obedience, knowing that He has plans for our lives. May the Lord find us worthy and not wanting, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
