“Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.“
John 8:34
God’s stance on sin is not an easy pill to swallow. He hates it, and cannot abide it. However, we often think that because God is love, He can overlook our sinful ways.
This is not true at all. A sinner has no ties to God. He is a servant of sin, and the bible even states that he does like his father the devil. The truth is, no one who chooses to remain a servant to sin will experience the beauty of eternity with God.
However, in God’s love for us, he provided us with a choice to escape our slavery to sin. He did this when He sent His Son, Jesus, and John 8:36 states that “if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed”.
So, there’s a way out. You need not live a life of slavery because there’s a power greater than you than can work in you to produce good fruit. While the way of the sinner leads to destruction, the way God has provided—Jesus—leads to everlasting life.
