“Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more.”
Philippians 3:4
The greatest misfortune that can ever befall a man is to believe that it is within his power to keep himself in the Lord.
It is quite impossible to stand in Christ except the Lord holds you up. That is why it is a dangerous thing to behold your accomplishments and begin to think that it is your power that brought you thus far.
In our passage, Apostle Paul was stating the fact that if there was anyone who had any right to boast in the flesh or in his accomplishments, he was one. Notwithstanding, with all his accomplishments, knowledge and even the respect he had in society, he could only stand firm in Jesus by the Grace of God.
Dear Christian, do not put your confidence in the things you have accomplished—no matter how great. Do not fall into that temptation of failing to watch carefully, and assuming that you’ve reached a level where it is now impossible to fall. Have you not heard? The devil is moving like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour. He’s carefully watching for the perfect time to strike. Do not lose guard. Watch!

Thought for the day: Christian, watch carefully. Do not have the slightest confidence in yourself. Lean wholly on God!
Stay blessed.
