“Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.”
Nehemiah 2:4
Nehemiah comprehended a profound truth: that the king’s heart rests in the hands of the Lord (Proverbs 21:1). Recognising this, he prayed to the God of heaven when asked about his request.
It was not mere coincidence that the king readily permitted him to build the walls of his father’s city and even allowed soldiers to accompany him. There exists a sweet-smelling savour that God can place upon a person, causing even adversaries to be at peace with them.
God can elevate a person and provide access to opportunities seemingly beyond their qualifications. The pathway to such tremendous favour before humanity begins with finding favour before God. The key to discovering favour before God is persistent seeking, as exemplified by Nehemiah in our passage. When you walk with God, His favour becomes your constant companion.

Thought for the day: The secret to finding favour before people is to first find favour before God.
Stay blessed.
