“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.”
Jude 20
Prayer is key for any believer that hopes to grow. But the necessity of praying in the Holy Ghost has often been questioned. Many have reduced it to just praying in tongues.
The secret to life in the Spirit is to live constantly by the Spirit as opposed to human knowledge. Instead of religiously praying and blasting tongues just for self-uplift, consciously sit with the Holy Spirit and observe how He moves in your heart as you pray.
As believers, whatever we do unto God must be done in Spirit and Truth. It’s impossible to get God’s attention with half-hearted prayers that don’t engage the Spirit. Praying in the Holy Ghost, therefore is the art of praying WITH the Holy Ghost. It means praying in such a way that if beheld with physical eyes, you would be seen both you and the Spirit join hands, uttering the same words.
As Christians, every act to fulfill righteousness should be Spirit-led. If your prayer feels detached from the Holy Spirit, examine your intent. Will you linger until the Holy Spirit directs, or do you want to mark time and move? May the Lord help us all.
Study: Romans 8:26-27, Ephesians 6:18
Action: Make a conscious effort not just to pray or speak in tongues, but to pray according to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Stay blessed.
