“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”

1 John 4:7-8

Take a moment to reflect: Are you truly born of God? Is He your Father in the deepest sense? Consider this: just as nature dictates that a child bears the DNA of their parent, so too, we, as believers, bear the DNA of God when we truly love.

If indeed we are born of God, then we must love as He does. For a son inherently carries the essence of his father. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, the characteristics of love are laid out, representing the DNA of God within us. So, as a believer, if you possess the capacity to be like your Father, why not live as His child?

Do you view those around you through the lens of love? Do you harbor charitable thoughts toward them, even in the face of adversity? Is your response to those who hurt you rooted in love, or do fear and hesitation hold you back?

When you accepted Christ as your Lord, you received the very nature of God. You now possess the ability to love as Christ loves. The question is, will you put this gift into practice? Will you truly be a child of your Heavenly Father?

Prayer

Lord, I humbly ask for your mercy. For the times I’ve strayed from my divine heritage, living as though I don’t know you, please forgive me. Empower me, Lord, to exercise my God-given nature of love. Grant me the vision to see through the eyes of love and the strength to relate to others with love as my foundation. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
