“Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?”
Romans 2:21
It is essential to remember that if we preach against certain behaviours, we must ensure we don’t engage in those actions ourselves. And if we have any lesson we wish to teach others, those things must be practically evident in our lives. Teaching with integrity means living out the values we impart to others. We should not use our position of authority to exempt ourselves from adhering to the same principles we teach.
As we grow in wisdom and knowledge, let us also grow in humility and openness to correction. Let us not be so careless to wave things away and believe they are only for us to fulfil all righteousness and teach them to others. None of us is perfect, and we all have room for improvement. We should embrace feedback and be willing to work on ourselves, just as we encourage others to do the same.
Everything you teach stands as a witness over you. Let us not take our role as teachers lightly, but instead, be diligent in practicing what we preach. May we continually seek God’s guidance and grace, so that our lives may serve as a testimony of the teachings we share with others. In our journey of faith, let us remember to remain humble, teachable, and open to God’s refining work in our lives.

Prayer
Lord, please help me not to be so caught up in teaching others that I forget the flaws in my life. Help me never to mistake a place of authority as exempting me from certain corrections. Help me Lord to always remain humble enough to be corrected.
