“And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.”
Joshua 3:5
In our opening verse, Joshua urged the children of Israel to sanctify themselves because God was about to perform wonders amidst them. He admonished them to stay purified, for the blessings of the Lord were coming.
God’s blessings are ever available for mankind, but are we ready to receive them? This is a question we must ponder greatly; are we prepared for His visitation?
Many believe God’s visitation is all about anger, wrath, and judgment. But in reality, God’s visitation brings blessings, greatness, goodness, and more. But how ready are we to receive all these? How prepared are we for this divine visitation?
Joshua said, “Sanctify yourselves.” One of the ways to prepare for this visitation is by sanctifying ourselves. Sanctification is a process of consecrating or setting ourselves apart from the ways of the world, and dedicating ourselves wholly to God. It involves transforming our hearts to align with God’s will and purposes.
Before God can visit us with great blessings and goodness, we must first align ourselves with Him. His will must become our will, and His purpose must be ours. We must submit ourselves entirely to God and align our purposes with His.
Sanctification opens the door for God to work mightily in and through us, fostering alignment and a close relationship with God. As we surrender our plans and desires to Him, we can trust that His wonders will unfold in our lives at the perfect moment.
