“Here is a simple rule of thumb for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you; then grab the initiative and do it for them!”
Luke 6:31
I was walking down the road one day, muttering how much I wished somebody would do a particular thing for me. While I imagined how pleasant that would be, it was as if I felt a tap on my heart and heard, “The next time you feel a need to receive from another, find somebody and do the exact thing you’re wishing for to them.”
That must have been why I got so excited when I came across the above scripture months later. It was practically repeating the very thing I had heard that blessed day.
As humans, it’s normal to get so caught up in the bustle of life and thoughts of the things we need for ourselves that we do not even have the time to consider another person. Humanly speaking, it isn’t easy to have a heart for another when you’re immersed in your issues.
However, that’s precisely what God asks of us. He asks that we love just as He has loved and died for us. What an example! It means He has called us to a higher responsibility. It means He wants us to replicate the kindness He has shown us to another. It means He doesn’t want us to live only for ourselves. He wants us to come to that place of selflessness, where we treat men just as He would.
Of course, it takes grace to live in this way. But the way to exhibit that grace is to take deliberate steps. Pay attention to the next desire in your heart, and bless somebody’s life with that thing you desire. As we are positioned to receive, we must also be channels of blessings. May the Lord give us grace and help us to show love in its true definition in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Prayer
- Dear Father, I acknowledge that it is not always easy to put the needs of others above my own; please help my heart.
- Lord, open my eyes to the little ways I can be a blessing to others.
- I ask, Lord, that you teach me what it means to love in the way you define it.

I’m blessed. Thanks for the message. The message is more or less saying we should learn to intercede for others even when we have our own challenges. May God help us in Jesus’ Mighty Name, AMEN 🔥.
Dear Deborah,
You just explained the message in a very brilliant way, and I just learnt from your feedback. It’s a pleasure to read from you. Thank you and remain blessed.
