“For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”
1 Corinthians 1:21
“Are you a fool? Why are you so foolish? I cannot cope with this act of foolishness anymore. I have endured enough, but not again!” Sharon lamented bitterly, her voice rising as she complained about her fiancé’s attitude. She finally stormed out angrily.
At home, Sharon muttered to herself in disappointment. “How could Timi refuse to collect the money from our boss? That money could have changed our lives forever, even built generational wealth!” Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. She saw two hefty policemen, they entered and arrested her. At the station, Sharon wept as she called Timi. He rushed down immediately to find out what had happened.
Their boss had been caught in a money laundering scandal and had listed the names of those who shared in the illegal funds. Sharon’s transactions implicated her, but Timi presented evidence that cleared her, and she was released on bail. For months, Timi had been preaching Christ to Sharon, but she dismissed him, saying only fools lived that way. Yet after this harrowing experience, her heart softened. She embraced Jesus and resolved to follow His ways.
Charge: Beloved, this is a call to humility and Christ-centred living.
