“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)”

2 Corinthians 10:3–4

I heard a story some years ago of a married man whose pastor told him that his mother was a witch and the cause of his wife’s barrenness. Believing he had found the solution, he rushed home, picked up a cutlass, and headed for his mother’s house, shouting, “That old witch must die.” Thank God for those who stopped him before he caused irreversible damage.

When he was later asked if killing his mother would truly solve his problem, he replied, “I don’t care.” This revealed the depth of his ignorance. Even if he had succeeded, he would have remained barren and become a murderer. This story shows what happens when spiritual issues are handled with physical weapons.

Though battles may be revealed in the physical, our response must never be physical. Scripture reminds us that our weapons are not carnal but spiritual and mighty through God. Victory comes when we fight in God’s way, not man’s way.

Charge: Hidden plots of the enemy may be revealed, but our response must be spiritual, not physical, if we are to remain victorious.
