“But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.”

Acts 6:4

When the early church was growing fast, and pressure and complaints arose, the apostles knew to stay anchored to their true assignment rather than being swallowed by urgent tasks.

This was not a rejection of service but a recognition of priority. The Word could not become occasional. It was their daily responsibility — their source of wisdom, direction, and power. When they did, they prioritised the Word and empowered others to serve, and we saw the Word of God spread even more (Acts 6:7).

Just like the days of the apostles, we live in a world of demands, where work, family, ministry, and expectations compete loudly for our time. Yet when the Word is neglected, our strength quietly drains. God’s Word is not meant to be visited occasionally but lived with daily.

Charge: When we take responsibility for the Word every day, it takes responsibility for us.
