“22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
Luke 14:22-23
In Jesus’ parable of the Great Banquet, the master prepares a feast rich enough for everyone, yet many who were first invited made excuses. Instead of cancelling the banquet, the master widened the invitation. God’s heart has always been a heart of invitation, saying: “There is still room.”
A similar truth appears in the story of Mephibosheth (2 Samuel 9). Although crippled, forgotten, and hiding in Lo Debar, he never imagined he could sit at a king’s table. Yet David sent for him, not because he was qualified, but because covenant love made room for him. The king’s table had space for someone who thought he had no place.
Today, no matter how far you’ve gone, how unworthy you feel, or how many excuses you’ve made—there is still room for you in God’s grace, purpose, and love. And just as the servant was commanded, God also calls everyone of us to extend that invitation to others.
Charge: Someone’s life is waiting for your reach. Will you send out the invitation today?
