“Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.”

Zechariah 10:1

There comes a time when we feel dry, either because our dreams remain unfulfilled or our prayers go unanswered. Yet, in such seasons, God still calls us to ask. He does not want us to wish or worry, but to ask with faith.

Elijah understood this principle in 1 Kings 18. After three and a half years of drought, he climbed Mount Carmel and bowed before God in prayer. Seven times he sent his servant to look toward the sea. On the seventh time, a small cloud appeared and soon, heavy rain poured across the land. Elijah’s persistence in prayer brought showers of blessing upon a weary nation.

Many times, we miss divine rain simply because we do not ask or give up too soon. God is still the giver of showers of rain, both physical and spiritual. He desires to refresh, revive, and restore you but He partners with your faith-filled asking.

Charge: The clouds are gathering, and your rain is near! Lift your eyes and ask boldly.
