“And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?”

Exodus 4:11

I had a conversation with a friend of mine many years ago. I was complaining about the limitations of my disability. He made a statement that still struck me to date: “We all have a disability. It could be financial disability, mental disability, etc. What matters the most is how you see yourself and find the ability in this disability and use it to break through.”

The history book is filled with amazing people who didn’t let their disabilities become stumbling blocks to them: Helen Keller was born deaf and blind from early childhood, but became a best-selling author and an advocate for people with disabilities. Ludwig van Beethoven became deaf in adulthood but still created some of the most profound music, including his Ninth Symphony.

Nick Vujicic, born without arms and legs, turned his condition into a global ministry as a motivational speaker and evangelist. Thomas Edison, who was partially deaf and viewed his hearing loss as an advantage, was able to focus on inventions like the light bulb and phonograph, thereby changing modern life forever. These people didn’t limit themselves with their limitations.

Charge: Who made you? God did. So, why do you limit Him with your unbelief and weaknesses? This new month, tell yourself, “I am a person with a limitless God. Therefore, I am limitless!”
