“That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.”
Psalm 83:18
I recently came across a story on social media that perfectly illustrates the power in today’s Bible verse. Ten-year-old David was kidnapped on his way home from school. His frantic parents reported to the police and tried everything to find him. Days later, the kidnappers contacted them, demanding millions of naira for his release. But the only money his parents had was less than a hundred thousand. Helpless and desperate, they kept praying for their son’s safety.
Meanwhile, David was locked in a filthy room stained with blood. The kidnappers, who were ritualists, planned to sacrifice him to their deity. In that terrifying moment, young David boldly called on the name of the Lord, asking Him to send confusion into their midst.
God answered. The leader of the group suddenly went blind in one eye. Another member collapsed and died instantly. Yet another began to foam at the mouth, confessing their evil deeds before also giving up the ghost. Overcome by fear, the remaining kidnappers released David, realising he was untouchable. Dear friend, never underestimate the power in the name of the Lord. His name is above every other name, power, dominion, and rule.
Charge: His name is stronger than any threat, and higher than any authority on earth. Whatever you are facing today, call upon His name and be saved.
