“The word of the LORD came again to me, saying, [13] Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it.”
Ezekiel 14:12-13
“When the land sinneth…” reveals to us that people commit atrocities that can invoke the wrath of God upon them, just like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. Amidst compromising behaviours, today’s devotional verse is a solemn and sobering reminder of the seriousness of sin and the certainty of God’s judgment.
Beloved, we know that God hates sin and detests all forms of iniquity, unrighteousness and evil works. We must, therefore, live conscious of what our heavenly Father has instructed us against, even when every other person has chosen to disobey God’s instructions.
As much as God is gracious and merciful, we should not take His love for granted but hold fast to the profession of our faith that we have received from the beginning of our walk with God.
Charge: Today’s word emphasises individual accountability for one’s sins and the significance of personal righteousness and faithfulness to God, independent of external influences or intercessors.
