“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

Romans 8:26

One of the ways the Holy Spirit helps us is by interceding for us and helping us to pray as we ought to. Remember when Hannah went to the temple at Shiloh and prayed inwardly while weeping due to being barren? And how Eli, the priest, on seeing her, thought she was drunk? God heard those silent prayers and tears of hers and, eventually granted her desires.

One profound lesson from her encounter that stayed with me was: even while she prayed and wept in her heart, God heard her and gave her what she desired. It made me realise God hears the cries that come from the depths of our hearts.

You see those things you cannot open your mouth to ask for from God? Those tears that roll down your cheeks while raising your petitions before God? They are prayers. They convey your heart’s desires to Him, and He hears every of those wordless tears and silent whispers. Go with this assurance from the Psalmist: “The Lord hath heard the voice of thy weeping.”

Charge: He has heard your silent words, your tears have been placed into His bottle and have been recorded in His book.
