“For where envying and strife are, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”

James 3:16-17

As believers, we are called to live a life guided by God’s wisdom. But what does it look like? James 3:16-17 contrasts two types of wisdom: earthly wisdom, which leads to jealousy and selfish ambition, and heavenly wisdom, which produces a harvest of good fruits.

The fruits of God’s wisdom are evident in our lives when we demonstrate qualities like purity, peaceableness, gentleness, and reasonableness. We show mercy and compassion to others, and our actions are guided by a sincere heart.

As we seek God’s wisdom, we can expect to see good fruits in our lives, such as: Unity and harmony in our relationships, humility and a willingness to listen, compassion and empathy towards others, and patience and self-control in challenging situations.

Charge: From today, endeavour to live a life that reflects Christ’s character, love, purity, peaceableness, and forgiveness.
