“Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”

1 Peter 4:19

Suffering is an inevitable part of life. It can take many forms, from physical pain to emotional distress, and can leave us feeling overwhelmed and helpless. In times of suffering, it’s easy to wonder if God is truly in control or if He cares about our struggles.

The verse encourages us to commit ourselves to our faithful Creator, acknowledging that He is sovereign and trustworthy. When we suffer according to God’s will, it’s not because He’s absent or uncaring. Rather, it’s because He’s working out a greater purpose, one that may be beyond our understanding.

Trusting God amid suffering requires faith and perseverance. It means believing that He is good, even when circumstances seem otherwise. As the verse further admonishes, let us therefore “continue to do good” even in the midst of suffering.

Charge: Commit yourself to Him, and trust that He will see you through.
