“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
Matthew 5:9
One of the descriptions of Jesus, which was prophesied in the book of Isaiah, is that He is the “Prince of Peace.” Peace is also a fruit of the Holy Spirit. The world is full of everyday chaos and crises, but one profound benefit we enjoy as children of God is living in peace.
Peace is a sense of God’s wholeness that fills our heart and displaces worry, anxiety or fear. Our discovery of who we really are (children of God) and our place in God’s family reflect in how we peacefully relate with other people. We are called the children of God because we are peacemakers, and we show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight.
As children of God, let us make an effort to live in peace with everyone because, by default, we are expected to be makers and maintainers of peace. Let us be encouraged today to be advocates of peace, and we can bear this fruit with the help of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. We model a life of peace through our communication with others.
Charge: As much as possible, try to live in peace with everyone.
