“Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.”
Haggai 1:5
To give careful thought to our ways means that we are called to self-examine our thoughts and desires before the Lord. We are encouraged through the verse of today to pause and reflect on our lives as well as our choices. Do our motives align with God’s will for us?
We read in the Scripture about the story Prophet Nathan shared with King David, and David was angry at the rich man. King David was quick to judge the rich man, saying he deserves death; meanwhile, he didn’t know the story was in the form of a parable, which indirectly described his recent acts toward Uriah and his wife. Are we also quick to judge others? We need to think seriously about our actions, check if they please the Lord, and not seek to gratify our lustful desires.
Now this call to check our ways before the Lord is not for condemnation but to realign our walk with God. Whenever we are found guilty before the Lord, just like David, we can confess our sins, repent and receive mercy from the Lord.
Charge: Check your ways today and make it right if you are on the wrong path.
