“Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”
Philippians 4:9
There’s something deeply profound about the way Apostle Paul speaks in this verse. He urges the Philippian church to live out what they’ve learned, received, heard, and seen in him. Why? Because he is certain that his words are equivalent to his lifestyle. It’s not a common thing for people to confidently tell you to live out what you’ve learned from them.
Also, he knows that having the knowledge of truth without practice is empty. When you do what you’ve learned in Christ, you don’t just get peace, you get God Himself dwelling with you. Living up to your word, both to God and to others, is a cornerstone of Christian faith and character. It means aligning your actions with your promises and commitments, demonstrating integrity and trustworthiness.
Today’s devotional verse emphasises the importance of honouring your word, with peace as the reward. Living up to your word is a vital aspect of integrity. When we commit to something, we must strive to follow through. We must put into practice what we have learned, which includes living with integrity, being reliable, and keeping our word.
Charge: The peace of God will guard your heart, but the God of peace will walk with you.
