“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

Romans 8:6

A life obsessed with selfishness and a mind controlled by sinful nature walk on the paths of destruction that lead to death. The human mind is programmed after the fall of man to disobey, ignore, and be hostile to God’s laws. It seeks to make humans think highly of themselves and decide not to please God. Human nature is not submissive and is ruled by our desires, which fight against God.

If we choose to live a life of obedience to God and His word, then the state of our mind must be renewed through consistent study, prayer, and confession of the word of God. The renewal of our mind is a conscious effort while the Spirit of God empowers us for divine transformation. Whenever we shift our focus on God and pay close attention to Him through the word and prayer, our mind receives instruction from the Holy Spirit and begins to enjoy an open, spacious, and free life of peace.

Beloved, the cares of the world might cloud our mind or sense of reason, but we should allow the Spirit of God to direct our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Charge: We have been given the mind of Christ; therefore, we should think like Christ.
