“Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.”
Ezekiel 14:6
We serve a kind and merciful God who does not want anyone to perish. That is why He continually sends us messages to repent and return to Him. In today’s Scripture, God called the Israelites to turn away from their immoral and sinful ways, specifically commanding them to abandon their idols.
The Word of God is alive and active, relevant for every generation. While we may not bow to carved images as the Israelites did, idols still exist in subtle forms. An idol isn’t just a physical object of worship; it is anything that takes God’s rightful place in our hearts.
Your phone, social media, television, money, career, spouse, or even children can become idols if they are prioritized above God. It’s time to stop relegating God to the last place in our lives. Let us turn away from every appearance of evil and realign our hearts to put God first. When we do this, He will respond with mercy and restore us to Himself.
Charge: You are made to shine as light. Don’t let idols dim your glory or allow the devil to rob you of your purpose.
