“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
James 4:10
As believers, we live a life patterned like Christ, and one of the characteristic traits in Jesus is humility. He was humble even until death, submitting totally to the will of God, the Father. Are we also submissive?
Beloved, we are called by God to represent His word, will and way on earth. This calling can only be fulfilled when we humble ourselves in the presence of God. It is pride when we don’t pray, praise, worship, fellowship or study the word of God. We should come to the understanding that God owns us and all that we possess here on earth. Without Him, we can do nothing. It is wisdom on our part to see ourselves as being insignificant before the Lord who in turn makes our lives significant in the sight of everyone.
It’s time to intentionally submit to God in all things just as Jesus did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage but emptied Himself in the sight of the Lord. Brethren, the call of humility teaches that we get down on our knees before God, the Father because it is the only way we’ll get on our feet. Submit your totality to Him.
Charge: Tell the Lord to help you to submit to His word, will and way.
