“In everything, give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18
How often do we feel when people appreciate us even for the little kind gestures we offer them? We feel like even doing more and would almost beat ourselves up if we did not have the capacity at that time. A heart of gratitude is not limited to giving glory to God for providing material things but the doings of God during hard times.
For instance, the Bible recorded that King Jehoshaphat went to war singing praises to God based on the received assurance of God’s word. Amid rising war cries and raging battles, the children of God were busy praising God. Did God show up? Yes, He did, and He performed beyond their expectations. How about Paul and Silas’ act of gratitude in the prison? Exemplary!
Beloved, it is a very good thing to show gratitude to God at all times even in the face of distress or uncertainty because there’s a track record of God keeping to His word. Gratitude to God comes from the swells of unending joy within us because our testimony will be what Job said in Chapter 13:15, “Though He slay me, yet I will trust Him.”
Charge: Choose to show gratitude to God every day and at all times.
