“Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.”
Psalm 103:13
The above Scripture is very loud about God’s heart of compassion and mercy toward His people even when they stray. In the Scripture above, we see that the Father’s love conveys tenderness, understanding and a deep desire for the well-being of His children.
The Lord’s compassion is also seen in Jesus’ ministry; He was moved with compassion for the crowds who were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd (Matthew 9:36). He also healed the sick, comforted the grieving, and forgave the broken-hearted. Jesus’ life on earth was a living testament to God’s loving care for humanity.
God’s compassion isn’t earned; it is freely given, and as we have freely received, we have also been called to reflect this compassion to others. Our acts of kindness and compassion should be as a witness to the loving heart of God. When we experience His compassion, it transforms us, urging us to extend that same grace to those around us.
Charge: God’s compassion isn’t earned; it is freely given.
