“Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.”
Philippians 4:5
Temperance, or self-control, is an essential quality for every believer. When we practice temperance, we show maturity and spiritual growth, proving that we are no longer bound by emotions like anger, greed, gluttony, or lust. Instead, we allow God to shape our character through the fruit of the Spirit, striving to live a life that reflects Christ’s character.
Temperance helps us maintain balance in all things, keeping us from worldly desires and focusing our hearts on what truly matters—our relationship with God and His purpose for our lives. In every area—work, relationships, or habits—temperance brings clarity, allowing us to prioritize what aligns with God’s will.
Living with temperance also prepares us for the Lord’s return. With self-control and reliance on God, we stay focused on Him, ready for His coming. Let us cultivate temperance in all things, trusting God to guide our steps.
Confession: Lord, help me to maintain temperance in all things, so my life reflects Christ.
