Then she arose with her daughters-in-law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.”

Ruth 1:6

The story of Naomi and her daughter-in-law, Ruth, is one of the most fascinating stories in the Bible. Naomi and her family left their hometown due to famine and searched for greener pastures, which they found.

Unfortunately, the supposed greener pasture turned out to be a horror story when Naomi’s husband and two sons died. Then, she began to hear news of prosperity about the land she had left behind and decided to return to her home. However, she was returning bereft of everything she had left with.

This tells us that not every ‘green land’ is suitable for you. The fact you are hearing excellent things about a place or person does not mean they are for you. Something that is good for others can be horrible for you if you do not tread carefully.

It is so vital to lean on God for direction. Do not leave God behind in your pursuit of prosperity, and lose everything because you moved in haste. It is better to spend time waiting on the Lord for direction than to lose time when all you have gathered disappears.

Charge: The Lord wants to guide your paths. Wait on Him.
