“While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.”
Matthew 9:18
What is faith? “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” Hebrew 11:1. Faith is a very crucial currency that everyone must possess in order to walk with God. It connects us to the divine power of God without which no man can accrue to himself the blessings of God.
We must be reminded that the character of faith is such that we are expected never to focus on what we can see or hear in the physical. As believers, the bible warned us that it is impossible to please God without faith. This means that no matter what we might be facing, we must put our absolute trust in God. In good or bad times, whose report are you going to believe?
The ruler in our scripture of today even though knowing full well that his daughter had died refused to believe that report, and rather chose to accept God’s report. This is how we are expected to respond even in difficult times as believers. God is pleased when we believe in Him and trust Him to change every negative situation we are going through. This is how he wants us to live – as the scripture had said, “the just shall live by his faith”.
May God strengthened our faith to rise even beyond hard times in Jesus’ name. Amen.
