“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”

James 4:3

We should be reminded of God’s nature of goodness that whether He answers our prayers or delay the manifestation, it doesn’t change the fact that He is good to us. We are so blessed to be called the children of God. As God’s children, we approach Him as our Father, but we need to know the proper way of receiving from God.

Every human longs for one thing or the other depending on our individual preferences. It is often said that as our faces are different, so are our needs or wants or desires. Today’s scripture reveals the motive fueling human desires which has hindered God’s children from receiving answers to their petitions to God. If your prayers are self-seeking/centered/driven, it is a selfish desire that won’t be granted by God.

Beloved, check your list of unanswered prayers and see if it fits into God’s will for your life. Check your heart to know whether it is right before God or not. You can check through with the word of God and by the help of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit can discern God’s will for our lives concerning every situation. May the Lord help us to yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit in total submission to God’s will in Jesus’ name. Amen
